Benton real estate is located in Saline County, Arkansas.  It is the 15th largest city in Arkansas with a population of 27,700, it is also part of the Little Rock Metropolitan Area.  Benton sits conveniently on I-30 just 20 minutes from the airport and 22 minutes from Little Rock with a relaxed, friendly and warm atmosphere.  Saline County's location gives them the edge for transportation whether you travel by road, railway, water or air.  Benton has four excellent railway systems.

The city is almost at the center of the state, between Hot Springs and Little Rock.  Housing types come in many variety's and include single family, condominiums, town-homes, apartments and investment properties.  Home prices range from the low 80s to the upper 100s.  You will even find water front properties available.

Europeans first arrived in Benton in 1541 with the Spanish explorer Hernando De Soto.  In 1833 the area became a settlement and in 1836 Arkansas became a state.  Benton real estate was then chartered formally.  The name Benton came from a US Senator of Missouri, Thomas Hart Benton.

The city was surveyed and laid out in lots and blocks, the lots sold for $30 each then.  The first plats included streets and a public square, and was filed with 120 deeds.  The construction of public buildings came from the sales of the lots and the Saline Crossing Post Office came in 1836 to Benton.

In more recent years from 1920-1945, Charles Dove began photographing everything and everyone around Benton.  His collection has a total of 3,766 images that were devoted to Niloak Pottery Company.  The pottery company manufactures Mission Ware pottery.  Many scenes of Benton real estate and its residents are also in the collection.  You can find many of these photos in the Benton Historical Society building.

Benton is served by the Benton Public Schools District.  There are four elementary schools, one middle school, one Jr. high school and one high school.  The district strives for excellence, it offers a firm foundation for all its students and is highly regarded by all the residents in the city.

Benton contains one college in the city limits, the Otts Aviation school.  Colleges close by are the University of Arkansas, Blessed Hope Baptist College and Ouachita Technical College.

Benton has great recreational opportunities for its residents, which include horse racing, sporting events, ballets, symphonies, museums, parks, golf courses with country clubs, shopping and restaurants.  Benton has a few lakes and rivers offering swimming, fishing and boating. 

Benton has four parks in the area: Tyndall Park, Ralph Bunche Park, Sunset Lake Park, Lake Norrell Park and Bernard Holland Park.  These parks include facilities for every use, such as pavilion's, play area's, picnic tables, tennis, basketball, baseball, softball, skating, walking, rest room's, fishing and swimming.
