The History of the Bryant City Flag ~

City of Bryant ArkansasLaVenia Jones designed the flag and clarified it by the following: the history of the area is represented by the red panel; in October of 1864 in Hurricane Creek, the Civil War Skirmish occurred.  Several lost their lives during this time so many women were sent to tend to the wounded and recover dead bodies.  The Hurricane Creek is represented by the dark blue zig zags, the early settlers to the area depended on this creek for many things.  The city was incorporated in 1892, thus the dark blue 1892 located on the side left panel of the flag.

The natural beauty of the area is represented by the tree.  Early settlers that came to Hurricane Creek found the creek to high to cross on one of their journeys for a few days.  While waiting for the waters to recede they discovered the beauty of the area and decided to stay.  The colors of the United States flag and the Arkansas State flag echo the red, white, and blue colors in the Bryant city flag.  Hurricane Creek was renamed Bryant in the early 1900s.
