$54,000 | History of Malvern Malvern real estate was established by Cairo & Fulton Railroad in 1870 to create an easier access to nearby the popular resorts and spas of nearby Hot Springs. From 1874-1889, the Diamond Jo was the only railway access from Malvern to Hot Springs. The only way to get between the two cities was a long, uncomfortable stagecoach ride.
Malvern received its nickname of Brick Capitol of the World thanks to the large amounts of clay deposits in the area. Brick manufacture continues to be a main source of income for Malvern's economy today.
Malvern Education Students of Malvern attend public schools served by the Glen Rose School District, Magnet Cove School District, Malvern School District and the Ouachita Vocational Center. There are four elementary schools, one junior high school, one middle school, one junior/high school combo, two high schools and one vocational school occupying Malvern real estate. The Malvern Christian Academy is the only private school operating in Malvern.
Malvern's only college located in the city is Ouachita Technical College. It is a two year public college offering a variety of associate degrees and certificates.
Things to do in Malvern The Hot Spring County/Boyle House Museum is a wonderful place to find out about local Malvern history. Lake Catherine State Park offers campgrounds, beaches, watercraft rentals and hiking trails to its visitors. The annual Brickfest festivities are a local favorite celebration of Malvern's history. It includes entertainment, a 5K race, brick toss, motocycle show, food and craft vendors and a kids' section.
